7.3 Powerstroke Coolant Leak. Hi guys, i have a 96 7.3 with a coolant leak coming from somewhere on the driver's side of the engine, towards the front. Unfortunately, the 7.3l powerstroke transmission is prone to the overheating transmission issue.

If i recall it has green coolant currently. I started by draining and removing the radiator. Fuel pressure is much greater than the pressure in the cooling system.

Signs of overheating should be easy to pick up on. There really is no way for coolant to get in the fuel bowl unless it was in the fuel tank first. My coolant level drops about an inch below min line after driving 30 or so miles.

When it comes to the oil pan leak there is an o ring behind the large nut on the side of the pan international offers a kit to fix the problem you have to be careful not to drope the in side piece into the pan the part # is1846146091.

After looking through a bunch of posts, it seems that if it was the oil cooler, there would be oil in the coolant, not the other way around. I have a 2000 f350 7.3 with 200k. Consult the ford workshop manual to determine if a coolant flush is appropriate (see your local ford dealer for more details).
